I was shocked to hear about the death of John Travolta and Kelly Preston's 16-year-old son Jett.  Jett died after reportedly suffering a seizure and hitting his head on a bathtub Friday while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.  John and Kelly issued a statment yesterday on Kelly's website thanking fans for their support.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family in this difficult time.

"Marley and Me" topped the box office for the second weekend in a row, taking in another $24 million.  Adam Sandler's comedy "Bedtime Stories" was the number two movie, followed by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" starring Brad Pitt.  I saw "Benjamin Button" over the weekend and absolutely loved it.  It was the best movie I have seen in many years and it really touched me.  The story is amazing and Brad Pitt is breath-taking.  Times are tough in this economy , but if you have a little extra money to see one movie, I would recommend this one.  It is 2 hours 48 minutes but it doesn't feel that long and I don't think there's anything they could have cut out. 

"Dancing With the Stars" professional dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff are engaged.  They have been dating for 6 months and Maks popped the question on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas.  The new season of "DWTS" kicks off March 9 on ABC.

Kate Winslet credits her slim figure to doing a Pilates DVD 20 minutes a day.  She has 2 kids and doesn't have time to go to the gym.  It's working because Kate is looks better than ever!

Naomi Watt and Liev Schreiber welcomed their second child over the weekend and it's a boy!  They now have two sons. 

Hugh Jackman, the "Sexiest Man Alive," was named the host of the 81st annual Academy Awards, otherwise known as the Oscars, on February 22.  Good choice--Hugh is funny, he can sing and dance and isn't bad to look at!

"The Day The Earth Stood Still" topped the weekend box office, taking in $31 million.  "Four Christmases" was the #2 movie, followed by "Twilight."

Avril Lavigne is NOT pregnant.  The rumors started after Avril was photographed with a protruding belly (maybe she was bloated that day.)  A source says Avril was in Las Vegas over the weekend and she was "definitely boozing."

Speaking of boozing, actress Tara Reid is in rehab.  What happened?  Tara had a succeesful movie career at one point.

Madonna and her ex-hubby--together for Christmas?  A report says Madonna gave into Guy Ritchie's wishes and will be bringing the whole family to England for Christmas.  They want the best for the kids, so they are all spending the holiday in the $15 million country estate that Guy got to keep as part of the divorce settlement. 

Even teen stars get hand-me-downs.  After getting her learner's permit last week, new driver Miley Cyrus received an early Christmas gift.  Her mom, Tish, handed over the keys to her Porsche.  Tish got a new car, so she gave Miley her old car.  It's not fair--my hand-me-down car from my mom was a green 1970 Nova with black vinyl interior and AM Radio!

Oprah Winfrey revealed that she has hit the big 2-0-0.  She gained 40 pounds and is back up to 200.  Oprah said she's embarassed and doesn't know why she let this happen again.  As a fellow yo-yo dieter, I feel your pain girlfriend!  Oprah discusses her weight in the January issue of "O" magazine and will devote a show in January to it during "Best Life Week."  It just goes to show you that money can't buy you everything.  This woman has been struggling with her weight for many years and the battle never seems to end.  Good luck, O!

T.R. Knight has asked to leave "Grey's Anatomy."  Sources say the show will likely grant his request and let him out of his contract.  Note to T.R.--remember what happened to David Caruso and Shelley Long after they left hit TV shows?  Although I must admit that his character, George O'Malley, hasn't been involved in a good storyline in a while.

Britney Spears is going on tour next year and dancers planning on hitting the road with her are reportedly all being ordred to take a drug test so Brit can steer clear of negative influences.

It's a girl for former "Bachelorette" star Trista Sutter and her hubby Ryan.  The baby hasn't been born yet, but the couple found out that they are expecting a pink bundle of joy.  That's perfect since they already have a baby boy.  It's nice to see a reality show couple with a happy ending.
