When you think of places known for good pizza, New York City and Chicago are definitely up there, but in a new report on the best cities for pizza, they don’t even crack the top 10. And you’ll probably be surprised which cities did.
- To come up with the list, a data team from Clever Real Estate ranked the 50 biggest metro areas in the U.S. on eight factors including the city’s pizza reputation, the number of pizza restaurants, average Yelp rating for pizzerias, and the average price of a large cheese pizza.
- Based on their research, Denver, Colorado, is America’s best city for pizza.
- The report also finds Pennsylvania is the best state for pizza, as it’s home to two top 10 cities, Philadelphia (number four) and Pittsburgh (number 10).
- Buffalo, New York, has the highest percentage of pizza restaurants per 100-thousand residents with 17.8, that’s more than double the national average of 8.4 per 100-thousand people.
- New York City has the best reputation for pizza, as about 41% of Americans consider it a top five pizza city, while 35% feel the same about Chicago.
- Chicago comes in as the 14th best city for pizza, while New York City lands at 15.
