HBO Max Plots “Practical Magic” Prequel Series

    • HBO Max has announced three new projects, including a prequel series to the 1998 film Practical Magic. 
    • The series follows three troubled siblings–Franny, Jet and Vincent Owens–who wrestle with “abnormalities” that have kept them isolated until they realize they’re descended from witches.
    • The network has also given pilot orders to the half-hour dramedy Generation and the hour-long drama Red Bird Lane.

Set in ‘60s New York City, the series follows three troubled siblings–Franny, Jet and Vincent Owens–who wrestle with “abnormalities” that have kept them isolated. But the tumultuous times unearth the extraordinary discovery that they are, in fact, descendants of a bloodline of witches. The two sisters will become the aunts in Practical Magic, while their brother will leave an unexpected legacy. The 1998 film starred Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the next generation of Owens. The network has also given pilot orders to the half-hour dramedy Generation and the hour-long drama Red Bird Lane.
