Mariah Carey has confirmed she’s doing a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.
The singer revealed the news during a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show that will air today.
“I’m going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special event for me.” Mariah announced. She did not reveal dates.
Mariah says the show is inspired by her album #1’s and she’ll be performing 18 number-one hits. “It’s a new chapter for me and I’m just excited about it,” the singer added.
During her appearance, Ellen showed a video clip of Mariah wearing a sexy chambermaid outfit and surprising people at Caesars Palace. Ellen then surprised the people in her studio audience by announcing that they were getting tickets to see Mariah in Vegas.
No word on salary, though TMZ reported Wednesday that Mariah has signed an “enormous” agreement with Caesars. The website didn’t offer figures, but suggests that she’ll make at least what Britney Spears is pulling in for her show at Planet Hollywood.
Mariah will fill in at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace for Celine Dion, who’s taking time off to care for her ailing husband.
