Mariah Carey made a cancer-stricken fan’s dream come true over the weekend by meeting her in person after her Christmas show in New York. Larissa Podermanski, 30, tells The Hartford Courant that Mariah greeted her with a huge hug and talked to her for 15 minutes. “She was surprisingly very down to earth,“ Podermanski says. “We talked about different songs that meant a lot to me and I told her my story… she was very attentive and caring. She said I had a really strong energy… she said she can see that I have a lot of strength in me.“ Podermanski, who has stage 4 breast cancer, became a viral sensation when she and her chemotherapy infusion nurses created a music video that featured them singing Mariah’s holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas,“ during which they tweaked the lyrics to indicate that all Podermanski wanted was to meet the singer.
